Directions to Mohonk

Ride Share Notice
Attendees can coordinate and post requests for ride shares to and from the event at this electronic bulletin board.

We Recommend
You can either:

1. Fly into one of the New York City airports and take a car to Mohonk.
2. Fly into one of the New York City airports, take a taxi or shuttle bus to Manhattan, take a train or bus to New Paltz area, then take a car to Mohonk.
3. Fly into Stewart Airport and take a car, or rent a car to Mohonk.

For all car services, airport pick-ups, door to door, etc., make reservations directly with A.L.L. Transportation by calling 800.525.2306.  Prices vary based on number of people. 

AIRPORTS - New York City

You can fly into JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports if you are traveling first to New York City.  These airports serve all major airlines. 

Getting to Mohonk from NYC

Travel from the NYC airports to Mohonk is convenient and easy.  You can either book a car straight to Mohonk with A.L.L. Transportation by calling 800.525.2306 in advance or you can travel to midtown Manhattan, to either Grand Central Terminal (train station) or the Port Authority Bus Terminal. 

From JFK and LaGuardia to Manhattan

Taxis
There are countless NYC taxicabs outside of the airport cheerfully waiting to take you to your destination.  A taxi ride from either airport to any destination in Manhattan carries a flat fare of $45.

Car Services
It is advisable to reserve a car at least one day in advance.  The fare is approximately $60.

Shuttle Bus

New York Airport Service 718.875.8200

Shuttles depart every 15-30 minutes from JFK and LaGuardia outside the baggage claim areas.  The shuttle will take you to Port Authority Bus Terminal (625 Eighth Avenue at 42nd Street) and Grand Central Station (89 East 42nd Street at Park Avenue - a short 10 blocks from the W. Hotel).  The one-way fare from LaGuardia is $12.  The fare from JFK is $15.

From Newark Airport to Manhattan

Taxi
There are numerous taxis available outside the airport.  The fare is approximately $45 to midtown Manhattan.

Car Service
It is advisable to reserve a car at least one day in advance.  The fare is approximately $60.

Shuttle Bus

You can purchase a ticket at the Newark Liberty Airport Express booth at the ground transportation center located near the baggage claim area.  Shuttles leave every 20-30 minutes.  They have two different buses.  One bus will take you to Port Authority Bus Terminal and another will take you to Grand Central Station.  Tickets are $15.

From Manhattan to New Paltz Area

Train

Take the "Hudson Line" from Grand Central Station to Poughkeepsie, NY.  The one way fare is $13.75 during off peak hours, $17.75 during rush hour.  Call or visit their website for schedule information.  The train ride is approximately 1 3/4 hours.

Continuing to Mohonk

To travel to the retreat site from the Poughkeepsie train station, you may call the Mohonk Mountain House Transportation Desk at 845.256.2015 (please book your pick-up a few days in advance).  It is $55.00 for 1-3 people; $75 for 4 people; $100 for 5 people, $125 for 6 people, plus tax and 15% gratuity.  Or take one of the many taxicabs waiting outside the train station.  Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. 

Bus

Take the Adirondack Trailways bus from the Port Authority Bus Station to New Paltz, NY.  A one-way ticket is $18.25 (round-trip is $36.50).  The ride is approximately 1 1/2 hours.

Continuing to Mohonk

You can reach Mohonk from the New Paltz bus station in about 15 minutes by calling the Mohonk Mountain House Transportation Desk at 845.256.2015 (please book your pick-up a few days in advance).  Mohonk travel service from the bus station is free.  Or you can call New Paltz Taxi; 845.255.1550.

AIRPORT - New Paltz Area

Stewart Airport, in Newburgh, New York is 40 minutes from Mohonk Mountain House. Stewart is served by American Airlines, Comair/Delta Connection, Northwest Airlines, and US Airways Express.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO MOHONK

From New York City (East Side)
Take Harlem River Drive (aka FDR Drive and East River Drive) to the Upper Level of the George Washington Bridge.  Proceed to the Palisades Parkway North and exit on the NYS Thruway (Route 87) North towards Albany.  Exit the NYS Thruway at Exit 18, New Paltz*.                                                           

From New York City (West Side)
Take West Street (aka West Side Highway and Henry Hudson Parkway) to the Upper Level of the George Washington Bridge.  Proceed to the Palisades Parkway North and exit on the NYS Thruway (Route 87) North towards Albany.  Exit the NYS Thruway at Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From Albany and Northern Catskills
Go south on the NYS Thruway (87 south) to Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From Northern New England
Follow main highways to Albany, NY. Take NYS Thruway (87 south) to Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From New York East Side of Hudson River
Follow main highways to Route 84 (west). Follow Route 84 (across Newburgh-Beacon Bridge) to NYS Thruway (north). Take NYS Thruway (87 north) one exit to Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From Long Island Sound and Southern Connecticut
Follow New England Thruway Route 95 (west) to Cross-Westchester Expressway Route 287. Continue to NYS Thruway (Route 87).  Go north on Thruway to Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From New Jersey
Follow Route 17 (north) or Garden State Parkway (north) to NYS Thruway North (Route 87). Take NYS Thruway to Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From Boston and Vicinity
Follow Massachusetts Turnpike Route 90 (west) to NYS Thruway.  Go south on Thruway (Route 87) to Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From Pennsylvania and Delaware Areas
From the Wilmington, Delaware area use the New Jersey Turnpike.  Continue north on the New Jersey Turnpike to the Garden State Parkway. Drive north on Garden State Parkway to the NYS Thruway (87 north) to Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From areas outside of Philadelphia, take Pennsylvania Turnpike to New Jersey Turnpike and continue as directed above to NYS Thruway Exit 18, New Paltz*.

From Binghamton and Southern Catskills
Take State Route 17 to Liberty, then follow State Route 52 East towards Ellenville and turn left on U.S. Route 209 north.  Continue on Route 209 (north) to Route 213. Turn right (east) on Route 213 to High Falls. In High Falls, turn right across from Eggs Nest Restaurant. Follow Mohonk Road 5 miles to Mohonk Gate.

From Exit 18 to Mohonk
After leaving the NYS Thruway at Exit 18, turn left at the traffic light onto Route 299/Main Street. Follow Main Street through New Paltz. Immediately after crossing the bridge over the Wallkill River, turn right (there is a "MOHONK" sign).  Go 1/4 mile - bear left at the Y and follow Mountain Rest Road and Mohonk signs to the Mohonk Gatehouse.  (NOTE: Mohonk is located six miles west of New Paltz, measured from the Thruway Exit.)
