New Board Members for EGA
April 23, 2010
Both new members bring extensive experience in the field of environmental philanthropy and have collaborated routinely with EGA, having chaired Retreat and Briefing committees and being active members for several years.

Paul Beaudet is the Associate Director of the Wilburforce Foundation. He always imagined that he would one day grow up to “integrate evaluation practices into the foundation's operations and works with key capacity building service providers to help grantees plan, manage and sustain their organizations and programs.” Dreams do come true! Paul has worked for nonprofit organizations since 1985 on behalf of the environment, education, the arts, and social justice. He is currently a member of the Visiting Committee of the Nonprofit Leadership Program at Seattle University, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Effective Philanthropy.

Mark Van Putten has more than 25 years of experience in environmental and natural resources policymaking at the international, national, regional and local levels. He is the founder and President of ConservationStrategy® llc, a philanthropic advisory consulting firm based in the Washington, DC, area. The firm’s retainer clients include the Wege Foundation, with which Van Putten has worked on environmental grantmaking for six years. Prior to founding ConservationStrategy in 2003, Mark spent over 20 years on the staff of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), America’s largest membership-based conservation organization, including nearly eight years as President and CEO. Mark served as a member of the Obama-Biden transition on the Department of Interior Agency Review Team and, during President Clinton’s Administration, he served on the Trade & Environment Policy Advisory Committee. Previously, he served on U.S. EPA advisory committees appointed by Administrators Ruckelshaus and Reilly. On the 30th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, Mark was named one of 30 nationwide “Clean Water Heroes.”

They fill two current vacancies on the board, and the Board Development Committee forwarded their nominations for these slots to the full Governing Board where they received unanimous approval. They and an additional slate of candidates will be up for full membership approval at the town hall meeting at the Fall Retreat at Asilomar.

Please join EGA in welcoming them to the Board!
