The Roundtable, opened by Pablo Farias of the Ford Foundation, centered on the two challenges of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) – What outcome do we want from Rio+20?, and How do we arrive at the outcome?

The three-pronged objective of the Conference was to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assess the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development, and, address new and emerging challenges.
