The Consultative Group on Biological Diversity, a 30-year-old association and network of environmental funders, seeks to hire an executive director. Our ideal candidate has a high quotient of emotional intelligence, warmth, and a sense of humour to deploy in connecting our members with each other and outside experts to enhance our collective knowledge, effectiveness, and inspiration for action. The executive director should have a wide-ranging curiosity for many topics, familiarity with philanthropy, experience organizing conferences and facilitated discussions, and be a practical problem-solver. They will lead a team of ten staff and oversee programs focused on climate and energy, marine fisheries and biodiversity, the Amazon, Mexico, and conservation science, among others.

The Pisces Fellow will serve as project manager of the Organizing for Greater Effectiveness (OFGE) initiative. This person will be responsible for day-to-day management and implementation of the Foundation’s work on the OFGE initiative, working with the Foundation’s President, including serving as a key point of contact for internal and external constituencies. The ideal individual will be proactive and anticipatory in approach, possess excellent judgment in a variety of situations, demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills, have a high attention to detail, exemplify an energetic, poised, and positive demeanor, and demonstrate the ability to balance multiple priorities. As a representative of the Foundation’s leadership, the successful candidate also must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and diplomacy regarding all Foundation matters. The position is located in the Foundation’s San Francisco headquarters.

The successful applicant will be experienced in combining legal advocacy with community organizing and campaigning to provide leadership and/or support for critical campaigns, such as opposing new fossil fuel infrastructure in the Hudson River watershed. Additionally, the Hudson Watershed Advocate must be able to collaborate with partners and be creative in designing approaches to achieve demonstrable results in terms of community and member engagement, improving participation by minorities, and achieving short and long-term tactics objectives.

The Grant Database Analyst manages and maintains all aspects of our online grantmaking platform Cybergrants, including overseeing system planning and upgrades, on-going maintenance, customizations to aid in the development of new programs, communication with the Cybergrants team and the education and training of our global grantmaking team. They are also responsible for monthly grants reporting as well as any special requests.
