Winter Briefing

Save the Date: Our 2020 Winter Briefing: Innovation on the Ground will take place February 24th 8am-February 25th 5pm at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico!

Draft Vision Statement

February 24-25, 2020, EGA will convene in Puerto Rico, a remarkable example of resiliency both in its community power and natural biodiversity, rising up while still reeling from recent inequitable allocations of recovery support and a long history of disinvestment under colonial status, and continued severe weather threats. At the 2020 Winter Briefing, EGA members and partners will gather in a region that provides inspiration for community mobilization across the country and faces the opportunity to reimagine energy, equitable recovery and green infrastructure, while protecting land use and biodiversity.

This briefing, organized by a robust Program Committee, in partnership with La Red de Fundaciones de Puerto Rico, Neighborhood Funders Group and Hispanics in Philanthropy, will lift up lessons learned from frontline communities impacted by extreme weather and climate change in and beyond Puerto Rico including highlighting collaboration and innovative grantmaking strategies in California, Louisiana, Florida, Houston and more.

Building on our 2019 EGA Retreat, the goal of this Briefing is to envision how grantmakers can invest in long-term equitable recovery funding, to address the increasing reality communities face, while also exploring how funders can support a more sustainable future in their environment, economies, ecosystems, across all issue areas, from local levels to national solutions.
