The #EGARetreat in Chicago and Virtually - Register Today!

As the 2022 EGA Fall Retreat Program Committee Co-Chairs, we are excited to announce that Fall Retreat registration is open! We invite you to join us in-person in Chicago, or if need be, virtually. This will be EGA’s first-ever hybrid gathering as a community, and will take place October 11-14. We are excited to reconnect, renew, and sustain our momentum in support of an equitable environmental movement.

2022 presents a set of opportunities and challenges that include everything from a renewed charge to support equitable access to federal infrastructure and climate investments to a panoply of far reaching Supreme Court decisions that call on us to rework our social contract in support of a multiracial, multigenerational future. The 2022 Fall Retreat is anchored in the Midwest, specifically in Chicago, and we look to coalition-led efforts for pathways to planetary wins at the state and local level. Our opening Retreat session, Chicago Coalitions for Climate Wins, will focus on the passage of the Illinois Climate & Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) and Chicago as a local study of coalition efforts for securing environmental protections. In the Midwest and across the country, communities are organizing across issues for policy wins and elected officials are championing climate platforms.

In this moment, we must remain committed as grantmakers to resourcing cross-issue, coalition-based work led by Black, Indigenous, People of Color and marginalized communities to achieve just and sustainable ecosystems, communities, and economies. The EGA Retreat is a crucial space for us to align our efforts and collectivize our impact as a force in environmental philanthropy. Drawing from the continued threads of our 2022 Winter Briefing, and with an eye towards midterm elections and COP27, this year’s Retreat agenda will hone in on practices for a healthy democracy for a healthy planet and sustaining strategic investments for racial equity as supports for the environment.

Don’t miss the opportunity to secure your spot for the EGA Fall Retreat at the early-bird rate by registering TODAY.
