Celia Bottger

Membership Manager

Celia Bottger (she/her) is the Membership Manager at the Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA). An organizer at heart, Celia is passionate about convening stewards of wealth to equitably resource movements for justice. In her role at EGA, Celia is a relational network weaver who builds connections among EGA’s membership to drive the collective power of environmental philanthropy to build a healthy planet for all people.

Celia has worked in environmental philanthropy for over three years, and previously worked as a Program Associate and Grants Manager at the NorthLight Foundation, where she led the Foundation’s support for Indigenous-led land rematriation efforts and youth-led climate advocacy through grantee partnerships and funder organizing. She also worked to institutionalize racial justice and decolonization within the Foundation’s philanthropic practices and is deeply committed to integrating justice in all facets of her work.

Prior to working in the environmental philanthropic sector, Celia held numerous roles in nonprofit climate advocacy, from climate policy research to municipal sustainability to shareholder advocacy. Celia graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and International Relations, and spent her undergraduate years organizing students in support of fossil fuel divestment.

Celia is a lifelong New Englander, and currently lives on the unceded homelands of the Pawtucket and Massachusett peoples, in what is now Boston, MA. As a settler on Indigenous lands, Celia honors the ancestors of these nations, as well as their present and future generations, and acknowledges their continued vitality and ongoing efforts to affirm the sovereignty of their nations. In her free time, Celia enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling, ballet dancing, and spending time with friends and family.
