Sarah Shimazaki

Communications Director

As a communications strategist and media creative, Sarah enjoys combining her passions for outdoor recreation, narrative change, and ethical storytelling to build power toward a more just, equitable and sustainable world. Prior to joining Blue Sky, she worked as a consultant with Resource Media for nearly a decade, partnering with outdoor education, conservation, and advocacy organizations and brands to expand the outdoor and public lands narrative and increase access to nature for all. She also hosted and produced Outside Voices, a podcast and multimedia platform featuring stories from Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQIA+ folk, disabled people, and others who "redefine outdoorsy.” Sarah identifies as Japanese-Filipina-American and lives, works, gardens, and drinks boba on Chochenyo Ohlone territory (Berkeley, CA) with her partner Kevin and their two dogs, Indie and Charlie.
