Ed Miller
Vice President of Programs, Joyce Foundation
As the Vice President of Programs, Ed leads the Foundation’s program teams in the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies to advance the Foundation's mission. Ed has more than 30 years of foundation and nonprofit organization experience. He has spent nearly his entire career working in the Great Lakes region.
Before joining Joyce, he led environmental giving for Crown Family Philanthropies and was a founding program director of the statewide Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation. He also worked for nine years in the Environment Program at the Michigan-based C.S. Mott Foundation.
Ed is a collaborative leader who has worked closely for many years with dozens of other Midwest and national funding partners. He serves on the boards of the Environmental Grantmakers Association and the Center for Humans and Nature, and formerly co-chaired the Climate and Energy Funders Group.
Ed grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio, in the western Lake Erie watershed. He has a master’s degree in agricultural and natural resource economics and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, both from Stanford University.
