It is hard to imagine a more turbulent time than the one we are currently experiencing. The nation is facing a deadly pandemic, a seeming unbridgeable racial and ideological divide, and an assault on our democracy as evidenced by last week’s storming of the Capitol – the People’s House.
Nevertheless, while the period is tumultuous it is also one of transition. In roughly a week, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will take office and assume the authority to address critical issues, such as climate change, environmental justice, racial equity, and the integrity of our democratic institutions. Down the street from the White House will be a Congress with newly elected leadership and members who have pledged to deliver meaningful change, offering us the chance to reimagine our shared priorities.
