On behalf of the Environmental Grantmakers Association's Board of Directors, we are excited to announce that our search for a new leader has begun in partnership with DEI-centered national strategic management consulting and search firm Walker and Associates Consulting. Last fall, EGA announced that Rachel Leon, our former Executive Director of 11 years, would be leaving EGA to become Executive Director of the Park Foundation, a long-time, valued member of the EGA community. During Rachel’s tenure, EGA grew larger, more diverse, stronger and more impactful – as an organization and as a network. Since that time, EGA’s momentum has continued under the leadership of Interim Executive Director Franny Canfield, EGA’s Associate Director. The Board has appointed a Search Committee that has reimagined the leadership role and will oversee and support an inclusive process to yield an exceptional pool of diverse candidates as well as a Transition Committee to ensure a smooth, healthy transition for the staff, Board and incoming new leader.

EGA is motivated by the “urgency of now” evident in the number of environmental stresses and injustices around the globe. We are embracing this change as a healthy part of how organizations adapt and grow into what a new moment requires of them. We therefore seek a visionary, courageous bridge-builder with integrity and humility to work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, staff and members. Our new President & Chief Executive Officer will amplify impact as a convener, capacity builder and catalyst for equity and guide the organization to a new level of excellence in promoting effective environmental philanthropy. With a strong Board, an exemplary staff team and an engaged membership, we have every confidence EGA will rise to this challenge.
