Spencer Ozer

Research Manager

Spencer Ozer (he/him) is the Research Manager at the Environmental Grantmakers Association, where he manages the Tracking the Field research program and EGA’s environmental grantmaking database. In this role, Spencer oversees data collection, analysis, and reporting to deepen understanding of trends, gaps, and opportunities in environmental philanthropy. With a strong focus on equity and impact, Spencer’s goal is to help funders think critically about their grantmaking and understand how it fits into the larger ecosystem of environmental sustainability.

Prior to joining EGA, Spencer served as Research Associate for Climate Justice at the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, where he led the research and data strategy for NCRP’s Climate Justice campaign. His role involved managing large datasets; producing sector-wide research and custom analyses for funders, partners, and movement leaders; as well as developing interactive dashboards that translated funding trends into actionable insights. His work has supported foundation decision-making and helped direct significant resources toward grassroots and equity-centered climate initiatives.

Spencer graduated from Eckerd College, with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science and a minor in Coastal Management. He currently lives on the ancestral land of the Piscataway people, what is now Alexandria, Virginia. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time in nature, listening to music, and falling asleep on the couch next to his wife, dog, and cat.
