Tamara Toles O’Laughlin

Tamara Toles O’Laughlin (pronouns: she/her) is an environmentalist focused on equity, access, and community. She develops capacity building initiatives and creates multimedia programs to dismantle privilege and increase opportunities for vulnerable populations to access healthy air, clean energy, and a toxic free economy at the local, regional, and national level. 

Toles O’Laughlin is a multi-hyphenate leader, a co-worker, resource and connector. She is the Founder of Climate Critical, a groundbreaking, global support network for people experiencing burnout in service of a habitable planet. She is the first President and CEO of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, as it enters its fortieth year. EGA represents over 200 foundations globally that hold approximately $200 billion in assets and grant more than $3.2 billion annually to environmental causes. Under her leadership the Association has launched several successful initiatives to strengthen the capacity of foundations to respond to the human costs of planet change including the Executive Grantmaker Fellowship for foundation Presidents and Trustees. She drives mission critical work and organizational investments to build a functional, multi-generational climate movement that is ready to hold leaders accountable to the long view of justice. Previously, Toles O’Laughlin was North America Director at 350.org and 350 Action. Earlier she led the Maryland Environmental Health Network. 

Toles O’Laughlin is a highly sought after advisor and thought partner in support of transformative ideas for people and the planet. She is an inaugural member of the Maryland Comptroller's Climate Advisory Council,  and serves as champion for the Fossil Fuel Non Proliferation Treaty. She was a founding supporter of the Maryland Campaign for Environmental Human Rights She provides counsel as Senior Advisor at the Green Leadership Trust and is a foundation trustee.

Tamara graduated from Vermont Law School in 2009, earning both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Environmental Law and Policy, with a concentration in energy generation and carbon constraint.
