Unite to Do What's Right! 

I’m writing to share with you a power packed letter from three leaders in our  community, Tonya Allen, President of the McKnight Foundation, John Palfrey, President of the MacArthur Foundation, and Deepak Bhargava, President of the Freedom Together Foundation.

Last week, the foundation Presidents launched a public solidarity campaign in Nonprofit Quarterly, in partnership with the Council on Foundations to advocate for Grantmakers to protect philanthropy’s freedom to respond to gaps in civil society, to give. 

As our nonprofits partners face mounting challenges to serve their missions, Grantmakers have an unparalleled opportunity to address critical funding gaps in support of a sustained future. There are no safe spaces in a felled republic and no refuges in silence. History will not be kind to those who are not operating in care today. As the risk capital that fuels movements, philanthropy is being called in to align for tomorrow. The Presidents campaign calls on charitable giving organizations to do what is uniquely in your power, and to show solidarity by signing a public statement to advance sectoral momentum.
